Text mode install when using Windows 2000 Setup Wizard

1. In the actual environment, you would have already seen the Welcome setup screen and pressed Enter, and accepted the Windows 2000 licensing agreement. In the list of existing partitions, press C to create a partition on disk 0.
2. When you are prompted to select a partition size in the Create Partition of Size (in MB) box, type 1500 and then press Enter. For the purposes of this Simulation, we have deleted the default value.
3. In the list of existing partitions, press Enter to select the C: New (Unformatted) 1500 MB partition. Setup displays a list of file system choices.
4. Press Enter to select Format the partition using the NTFS file system.
5. At this point in the installation, Setup formats the hard disk, examines the hard disk, copies files to the Windows 2000 installation folders, and the computer restarts automatically. In the actual environment, the Windows 2000 Server Setup Wizard would appear. For the purposes of this Simulation click Enter.
6. The Installing Devices page appears, indicating that you must wait while Setup detects and installs devices. Press Enter to move to the next screen.
7. After several moments, the Regional Settings page appears, prompting you to customize Windows 2000 for different regions and languages. Click Next.
8. On the Personalize Your Software page, type your username in the Name field and Northwind Traders in the Organization field.
9. The Licensing Modes page appears, prompting you to choose a licensing mode. For the purposes of this Simulation, choose the mode as if you have one server running Windows 2000, 20 client computers, and the need for no more than five concurrent connections. For the purposes of this Simulation, we have entered 5 in the spinner field.
10. Enter LONDON as the computer name. For the purposes of this Simulation, your password has already been entered. Click Next.
11. The Windows 2000 Components page appears, which allows you to add or remove components. Choose the Windows 2000 component that enables two or more servers to work together to keep server-based applications highly available, regardless of individual component features.
12. Click Next.
13. For the purposes of this Simulation, we have already adjusted the Date and Time Settings page. You would adjust the date, time, and time zone for your computer as necessary. Click Next.
14. After a few moments, the Networking Settings page appears, indicating that Windows is installing networking components, and then prompting you to choose Typical or Custom network settings. Click Custom settings.
15. Click Next.
16. For the purposes of this Simulation, we have already selected Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) on the Networking Components page. Click Properties.
17. For the purposes of this Simulation, we have already selected Use the following IP address in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box. Type 192.168.0.1 in the IP Address field to move to the next screen.
18. The default subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 appears. Click OK.
19. The Workgroup or Computer Domain page appears, prompting you to join either a domain or a workgroup. Make the correct selection to join a workgroup.
20. Type in the name of the workgroup, which in this case is "workgroup," and click Next.
21. The Installing Components page appears, indicating that Setup is installing Windows 2000 components. Click Enter to move to the next screen.
22. After several minutes, the Performing Final Tasks page appears, indicating that Setup is completing a final set of tasks. Click Enter to move to the next screen.
23. The Completing the Windows 2000 Setup Wizard page appears. This completes the Simulation. Click the Exit button.
