Run the Windows 2000 Readiness Analyzer
You can access the Windows 2000 Readiness Analyzer from Microsoft's Windows 2000 home page, which you can link to from the Resource page.
After you download the Windows 2000 Readiness Analyzer, start the utility by running chkupgrd.exe
. An icon will be installed on the desktop that you can double-click to run the stand-alone readiness analyzer program.
You will also find an online version of the Readiness Analyzer at the Windows 2000 home page. The online version will test your computer without requiring you to download any software.
The Windows 2000 Readiness Analyzer tool analyzes your system and reports potentially incompatible hardware devices and software applications.
The tool matches the devices and applications on your system against a list of known problems. This check also occurs during Windows 2000 Setup, but you can download and run the tool before you install
Windows 2000 to help ensure your installation will be successful.
